Labels, POS and physical systems
From stockroom to counter: check device references, peripherals and real-world workflows before connecting.
Label printers, barcode scanners, scales, terminals and electronic shelf labels do not all connect the same way. Compatibility depends on Odoo version, hardware, protocols and sometimes a gateway.
A four-step approach
Start with the on-site workflow
Describe receiving, labelling, shelving, sales and returns. Distinguish product, logistics and electronic labels; their requirements differ.
Inventory hardware and connections
Record exact models, firmware, interfaces and network constraints. Confirm drivers, protocols and any IoT or connector requirements before buying.
Make data and formats reliable
Check barcodes, units, prices, taxes and label templates. Verify legibility and obligations applicable to your activity, especially for food products.
Test representative conditions
On a test installation, check scanning, printing, simulated checkout, returns and connection loss. Offline behaviour must be confirmed for your hardware and configuration, never assumed.
Questions and practical answers
Are my printer or electronic labels compatible?
Brand alone is not enough. Check the model, protocol and available connectors; universal compatibility is not guaranteed.
Can we test without taking real payments?
Yes, using a properly isolated test database and payment environment. Never trigger a real payment just to validate the workflow.
Turn your reading into a project
Gather device references and a photo or anonymised example of your labels. We can assess the feasibility of your on-site workflow.
