Integrate Odoo with your systems
Connect your tools without duplicating data: APIs, ownership, errors and monitoring.
A good integration starts by defining who owns each piece of data. Before connecting a shop, CRM, business tool or agent, scope the flows and API access conditions for your Odoo version and plan.
A four-step approach
Map flows and ownership
For each object, define the system of record, synchronisation direction and frequency. Specify how to handle creations, updates, duplicates and conflicts.
Check transport and permissions
Detect the actual version and read its documentation. JSON-2 and older RPC APIs have different contracts; also check API access and restrict the technical account.
Plan for errors before writing
Define matching identifiers, idempotency and sanitised logs. After a write timeout, check the outcome before retrying: a blind repeat can create a duplicate.
Test and monitor
On a copy, test success, access refusal, invalid data and outages. Prepare alerts, recovery and consistency checks before an authorised production rollout.
Questions and practical answers
Does every edition provide API access?
Access depends on plan and hosting. Confirm the contract and target before estimating an integration.
Is synchronisation always instant?
No. Real-time flows, scheduled processing and task queues serve different needs. Choose frequency according to volume and business constraints.
